Topic: Is Social Media Regulation Necessary to Prevent the Spread of Misinformation?
An Inter House Debate Competition for students of Classes IX to XII was held at David Model Senior Secondary School on Friday, 31.10.2025. The event aimed to develop critical thinking, reasoning, and effective communication skills among students while making them aware of contemporary social issues.
The topic of the debate, “Is Social Media Regulation Necessary to Prevent the Spread of Misinformation?”, prompted thought-provoking discussions. The speakers presented their arguments with confidence, clarity, and well-researched facts. Those in favour of the motion emphasized the harmful effects of fake news and the need for strict monitoring, while those against it argued for freedom of expression and self-regulation by users.
The competition was judged by Mr. Jitender Kumar & Mr. Jitin Kumar who assessed the participants on the basis of content, presentation, confidence, and rebuttal. The debate witnessed a lively exchange of ideas and a strong spirit of healthy competition among all houses.
After a close contest, Red & Green Houses emerged as the winners, followed by Yellow House in the second position and blue house in the third position.The Principal congratulated all the participants for their commendable performances and encouraged them to continue engaging in such intellectual activities.
The event concluded successfully, leaving the audience more informed and reflective about the impact of Social Media in today’s digital age.
